Any Day

Well we are just waiting for our little man to make his grand appearance. I hope it will come sooner than later. We pretty much have everything we need for him, or at least I will find out when we bring him home! We are really excited and I am very anxious to see his little face. Joel has continued to work diligently around the house. He is starting to get the inside of the windows ready to trim. I have been trying to keep up with the Laundry and keep things relatively clean so I don't have to do any major cleaning right away once he's born. Our sister in law, but I will claim her as my own, Debbie is coming on Thursday and we are going to be making once-a-month meals!!! I am pretty excited about that!

making leaps and bounds

The babies room has some color!!! Jan, the best MIL in the world, came on friday and started her wonderful decorating talent!!! We have a crisp white ceiling, a nice zanzibar spice (brown) stripe and mom and dad (me and Joel) painted the caramel stripe! I am excited!!! We have a crib and our baby bedding, we have a rocker and changing table! We just need to find a dresser and put it all together and then the room will be ready and waiting for our precious little guy! Only 5 more weeks.

Volleyball 2007

We had the best of times and we had the worst of times, but like every good thing it all must come to an end=(. We ended at our regional tournament today. We were 1-1 at the tournament and the girls fought hard and did many great things!!! I am so proud of each one. Are overall record is 11-11 for the season!!! Not to shabby! It was a great season and a great time of learning and fun! The girls were great and I will miss our 4 seniors, Kara, Katie, Kim, and Kris, that are leaving us and our sophomore, Chelsea, that will be moving.

Work, Work, Work

Hello everyone! Joel and I, well mostly Joel have been very busy working on getting things done in the house before our little guy gets here. He has been finishing the electrical in the baby's room and upstairs. He is re-framing the closet door. He has also been helping with dinner and several other things! I am getting bigger...more tired, and more warm. I am hoping in the next couple of weeks my MIL, Jan, and I will get to paint the baby's room and get it ready for the little guy! I will make sure to send some pictures!

Its been a while!!!

For those of you who have been waiting for an update sorry it has taken so long.
To catch you up on a little bit of everything!!!
Joel finished his softball season with 2 tournaments. One in Battle creek, Mi and the other, the world series of Nazarene Softball, in Cincinnati, OH. He had a great time at both hanging out with the guys and playing ball! After the Battle creek tournament there was talk amongst the guys about how well Joel did. At church I found out that he was 20 for 22 at the plate!!! Thats my man!
Volleyball is now in full swing for me. The month of September will be extremely busy. All most of all of our games are away. But we are having fun and the girls are really working hard to bring everything together. We aren't perfect, but the girls have great dedication and can be really funny! We will be heading to a tournament this Friday in Highland, IN. Its a great experience for the girls to play some really competitive games and see some great teams!!! Plus its just a good time to hang out with the girls.
The little guy, the baby in my belly, is growing steadily! Everything is going fine with no major complications. I am just hungry all the time and tired. I haven't had any really weird cravings. I still really don't want chocolate, but I am enjoying a glass of chocolate milk before bed each night! I still just want fruit, pizza, steak, salad, and soup!
We had a 4-d ultra sound this past Friday. It was pretty neat. We got to see the little guy, but he wouldn't ham it up for the ultrasound. It almost seemed like he was napping bc he didn't move much even when I tried to poke him. He had his hands right above his face and his feet...instead of trying to suck his thumb he went for the toe!!! That was pretty funny! I just think its amazing how his whole body can bend in half like that! Its a good thing he is still mostly cartilage.
We are gaining progress on the house. The upstairs room is textured so now we just have to prime it. I will wait until early next year to figure out colors and pretty stuff like that. Joel is in the middle of opening up the closet door way in the baby's room. This involves him cutting holes in the wall. I think he is having plenty of fun demolishing a perfectly good wall!!! After he frames out the new door way then Jan and I can paint. She already taped out where all the different colors will be, now we just need to get part of the baby bedding and make sure our colors will blend together and not clash. We are going to use the colors from the bathroom and add a green and caramel color. my goal is to only have to buy the green color, so I hope everything else blends!
Well I think that is about it for now! I will try to post a few more times before we actually have this little guy!

Weekend Getaway

Joel took me on a weekend getaway for my birthday and for our friends wedding. The wedding was in Bloomington on Saturday so Joel decided that we would go Friday night with some friends of ours Joel and Lauren Mingus, they were going to the wedding anyway.
It was a great time. We saw Live Free or Die Hard (Great movie, but I'm a Bruce and Die Hard fan). I got a pair of wind pants for $2.50 at Dick's sporting goods. I was so excited!
The wedding was very special. A good friend, (mostly of Joel's) Kevin, got married. It was a beautiful wedding. There were so many special things, I got teary eyed even before her dad gave her away!!! You had to be there. It was great to be reminded of what God intended for a man and a woman and what He created marriage to be.

Be Glorified

All praise and Glory to our God and King. The Lord sure does provide when one is willing to work hard and get a little dirty.
Last year I accepted the head volleyball coaching position at Kankakee Trinity Academy. The girls have really come a long way to become more of a competitive team. One of the main areas the team is lacking is funding and equipment. I have a vision for this program and when I took over last year I didn't know if this program would ever come close.
Its a small school. The graduating class was 10 this year. Its a private school, so money is tight for almost all families. We do have great parents who live out faithfully giving to the Lord in time, money, and support. And the most important factor is that we all serve a very MIGHTY GOD.
These girls are great. They are some of the most mature young ladies I have ever met. And they really are living to glorify the Lord. It is the desire of their hearts to do and give their best for Him. I have been blessed.
So this year we have decided to do some fund raising. We just did a car wash at Wal-Mart today. I was thinking and anticipating that we wouldn't raise that much money and maybe we would just find some other fund raisers. Well God had a different plan. We earned $450 for our team to purchase some much needed new equipment. And to top it off, Wal-Mart matched those funds!!! May God be Glorified for He provides!!!!

Busy, Busy, Busy

We had such a fun and productive week. Joel's brother Josh, his wife Debbie, and son Brennen all came down to visit with us. We had so much fun watching Brennen begin to walk on his own.
It was the perfect week to insulate and drywall the upstairs room. Joel and Josh did most of the work, but they had help from their dad, my dad, and some friends. Next Joel and his dad will be taping and mudding and then texturing the walls ( I hate drywall compound dust and I really hate cleaning it). After that its time for the girls to take over and make it pretty with paint and decorations! Mom that means you need to come up with some ideas!!!!

Not too much is new with the baby...keep watching for posts as there should be some new developments within the next few weeks! I just feel like I am getting a little bit bigger, but not much. I can feel the baby move inside now, which is cool. I wonder what it thinks of its home and what it does all day. I would get bored trapped in that small space. Maybe I did and that is why my mom says I kicked a lot.

Have a good one!

Silence and Solitude

I am reading a book by Charles Swindoll called So You Want To Be Like Christ? Its a great book. And one of the things he addresses in this book is silence and solitude. He emphasizes that if we don't quiet ourselves, our lives, and our minds, then we will not be able to sense God's leading and guiding in our lives. For me I thought I could never really quiet myself, or my mind, but I have been trying to. I have found that it is making a big difference. I haven't heard an audible voice from God, but I definitely feel at peace and rest. Its nice.
